Jodhpur: the Mehrangarh Fort

The magnificent Mehrangarh or the ‘Sun” fort was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459AD., when he shifted his capital from Mandore on the advice of a hermit. This gem in Jodhpur is one of the largest and most beautiful forts in India.

Jodhpur: the Sun City

Situated on the edge of the Thar Desert, Jodhpur is also called the “Sun City,” named for the overwhelming amount of bright and sunny days it experiences. It is home to famed forts, palaces, mausoleums, gardens, lakes, and towers, making it a hotspot for tourist activity.

Άλλωστε από την αρχαιότητα η χώρα είναι γνωστή ως το «κάστρο των νερών της  Ασίας», εφόσον από εδώ  πηγάζουν δέκα μεγάλοι ποταμοί. Εκτιμάται ότι στην περιοχή αυτή περικλείεται το 30% των υδάτινων πόρων της Κίνας.
